The Health Sciences Center Library Administration offers a variety of services that facilitate the effective use of information resources on campus and at remote sites.
Circulation
- Implement library policies on HSCL members.
- Register for borrowing privileges.
- Assist patrons in using library catalog.
- Place course materials on reserve.
Reference and Information
- Answer reference queries.
- Assist in the use of library resources.
- Perform citation verification for bibliographies.
- Perform mediated literature search.
- Instruct patrons on database selection and use.
Training – Library Instruction
- Provide instruction, consultation, training sessions, guided tours and orientation programs on HSCLA resources.
- Offer course-related bibliographic and full-text group instruction as well as one-to-one instruction on accessing online information.
- Formal sessions scheduled by the library for searching databases and other electronic resources.
- Formal sessions arranged by faculty for HSC classes.
- Provide Guides and Tutorials on the use of library resources from LibTutor.
Electronic Current Awareness
- Set up a personal profile with a number of services to receive regular updates on new publications.
- Table of contents (TOC) alerting for new issues of specific journals.
- Many HSCLA databases deliver current developments and news in clinical medicine.
Interlibrary Loan / Document Delivery
- Obtain materials articles not available in the HSC Library.
